My dad got me listening to The Mamas & The Papas when I was about 11. I loved them straight away! Their music was catchy, tuneful, and their lyrics usually had lovely rhymes. It instantly attracted me to their music, and I started to listen to it more and more.
As I've gotten older, I have started to appreciate their lyrics more for their meaning, but I still love the catchy and tuneful music they play. Mama Cass also had a very good voice! While most people my age seem to like modern pop music, rap, hiphop and other such stuff, I like to stick with 60s music. The Mamas & The Papas are one of my favourite oldies bands, but I also love Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and such. Music like The Mamas & The Papas is often classed as being pop, but it is just so different from the pop music that you get today. It is one thousand times better. It is much more tuneful, the band members can really sing and their lyrics mean something. For me, these are the main reasons why I love The Mamas & The Papas so much. I don't think that I will ever grow bored of their music!
The Mamas & The Papas were not around as a band for very long back in their day, but in my opinion, their music will continue to be loved by many (young and old) for many years to come. Their music is great.
