R.I.P. Syd Barrett

R.I.P. Syd Barrett 1946-2006 Syd Barrett died aged 60 in July. It has been said he died peacefully. He was Pink Floyd's main influence in the early days and was the one who came up with the name for the band. He wrote most of their early songs, played lead guitar and did vocals. Pink Floyd's debut album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, was largely influenced by Syd, but his mental health deteriorated as the band became more and more popular. It is commonly accepted that this was due to his drug taking. Eventually, he became so unstable that he officially left the band in 1968.
